"Sorry buddy, I'd really like it but the date is very close and I will not have enough time to prepare myself and my speech."
"I will be available should a new opportunity arise in the future." Estarei a disposição caso surja uma nova oportunidade no futuro.
Me ajudem pessoal.

Vou deixar as minhas sugestões:
"I'm so sorry, it would be a pleasure (ou "I'd would love it" de uma maneira mais informal) but the date is too close and I wouldn't have enough time to prepare myself and my speech."
"Anyway, if another opportunity pops up in the future, I'd be glad to participate."

My two cents.
My dear friend, I felt honored by your invitation when I received your e-mail. And believe me, that would be a great opportunity for me. The only problem is that I won't be able to go. I have some plans going on my life now and it's almost impossible for me to prepare a speech the way I should in such a short time. I'm heartbroken, but I must decline. However, I hope there will be other opportunities in a better moment when I'll be able to perform a speech the way the event deserves. Once more, thank you a ton! Hope to hear from you soon.
