Boa tarde pessoal.
Para o meu TCC tenho lido bastante material contendo a palavra threshold. Consultei alguns dicionários, mas o significado ainda está meio obscuro, gostaria da ajuda de vocês...

Significa um limiar, ou seja, a partir dele algo muda. Isso pode ser usado de várias formas mas sempre mantendo este sentido.
Um exemplo simples: O threshold de um alarme de incêndio digamos que seja de 60°C, se a temperatura for maior que isso ele dispara. Geralmente é visto em gráficos, onde as curvas mudam etc...

Complementando esse entendimento, "threshold" pode significar um valor mínimo estabelecido. Veja alguns sinônimos em inglês: "limits of something", "the verge" e "the brink".
Here's an example:
A company wants to set sales targets (or goals) for the next fiscal quarter. They set a target of 25% growth. So, that number becomes the threshold - it is a set measurement of a goal.
