Hi Gavin, 1- I was reading an article about the new "Star Trek TV Series" that has been produced and I came across with the following sentence: "Star Trek: Discovery' plucks its lead actress from 'The Walking Dead" . Then, I was checking this word " pluck" in the dictionary, but did not understand clearly its meaning. The definition says: - " take hold of (something) and quickly remove it from its place;". So, please, could you explain if this word "Pluck" has a "special meaning" in this particular sentence? Which would the the synonym for it? Read more: www.digitaltrends.com/movies/star-trek-tv-series-info/#ixzz4VUAhHkZw2- Did I use " come across" correctly in my question above (nbr. 1)? Actually, I wanted to say "deparar-se com".

1. I would say "to pluck" means simply "tirar" here - they removed the lead actress. It also means exactly what the definition you came across said: you pluck your eyebrows and you pluck a guitar string, for example.
2, Yes, it was perfect!
